Best Pasta in Florence - Top 6 places

As a tour guide, I'm often asked for recommendations on good and affordable places to eat, but 80% of travelers are looking for one thing; Pasta.

These are my favorite places to eat pasta in Florence.

6

Matto Matto

This is a traditional Tuscan restaurant where you'll find all kinds of typical Florentine dishes. They have very good pasta at a reasonable price.

Pappardelle al Cinghiale
What looks like tagliatelle are actually pappardelle (a typical pasta from Tuscany) with wild boar meat.
Florentine steak
If you want more than just pasta, they have a spectacular bistecca alla fiorentina.

If you fancy trying some pasta typical of the area, pappardelle is a great choice.

5

Trattoria da Garibardi

The perfect place for anyone wanting to enjoy pasta in Florence and avoid gluten. They have very accomplished gluten-free pasta. Ideal after a good Free Walking Tour of Florence.

Tagliatelle al tartufo
Tagliatelle al tartufo (tagliatelle with truffle).

They offer a wide variety of pastas, but also have complete gluten-free menus.

4

F. N. Pasta Fresca

There are many good pasta restaurants, but it's much easier to find quality fresh pasta if you go to a shop where they make it themselves.

Pasta shop
Ravioli filled with ricotta cheese.

Not only do they have excellent pasta, but it's also affordable, and you can eat there.

The problem is that it's so popular, queues form easily, and sometimes you have to wait a while to be served.

3

Covo Pasta Fresca

If you're looking for a non-touristic, 100% local, and reasonably priced place, you've found it. It's a small neighborhood pasta shop that's fairly new.

Polpettone alla Fiorentina
They have a memorable carbonara al dente.

They have various types of hard-to-find pasta and several homemade desserts.

The only downside is that it's quite far from the center (about a half-hour walk). If you go to the Piazzale Michelangelo viewpoint, it's less than 15 minutes from there.

2

Boutique della Pasta

My favorite pasta shop in Florence. Their motto describes exactly what you'll find; "The real homemade fresh pasta".

Boutique della Pasta
A plate of spaghetti with goat cheese and tomato.
Typical Florentine pasta with meat
Ravioli filled with ricotta, with meat sauce.

Dishes cost around €6, the staff is attentive, and the quality is top-notch.

The problem is it's also about 25 minutes walk from the center.

1

Trattoria Sergio Gozzi

A traditional Tuscan trattoria that has been active since the early 20th century. Simple decor, but spectacular food.

Tortellini Sergio Gozzi
Tortellini filled with ricotta and spinach covered with ragù sauce (delicious).

Because it's so popular, it's quite difficult to find a table. The best thing is to go right when they open or even a few minutes before. They only open at noon.
